There is a nationally remarkable project organized in Finland which aims at improving the citizens’ health and well-being: Finland is water running in 2010.

This project is not competetive. It is about encouraging people to take exercise in natural waters. Water welcomes everybody without judging between different body shapes. (obese or slim, ordinary or unordinary) Water running makes people equal.

All the communes nationwide can participate in this project without any greater expenses. A public beach or equivalent place is all that is needed.

Participating commune should inform about the event in its area and install post-boxes beside the scene of the event so that the inhabitants can report on their participation.

By the end of the season the reports are collected; the given information will reveal the most active commune in water running and the most active water runner as well. The posters and brochures of the event are provided electronically. If the commune wants to organize any complimentary events, the event producer will help with free consultation.

”Finland is water running in 2010” is a media event, so when participating the commune will receive positive attention. The grand closure of the events will take place in Porvoo in August when the most active commune will be rewarded.

The official opening of the event starts from Petkeljärvi, National Park, Ilomantsi on the 3rd of July and will come to an end in Porvoo the 21st of August.
